You just started wedding planning and created a joint email for you and your partner to communicate from. Great job! This is such a useful step. As you dive into planning your big day, here’s a tip that could save you both time and energy in the future!
When creating a joint email address for wedding planning, try to avoid using the word “wedding.”
Here’s a few reasons why:
1) Your joint email is going to be incredibly useful even AFTER the wedding!
This is the first time you’re going to be introducing the email to your best friends and family – let’s make it last! Making a more evergreen email allows you to continue using this as a tool for family planning for your future. Consider making your email more long lasting like NAMEandNAME@gmail.com.
2) Joint Logins for EVERYTHING
My husband I use our joint email for every login that we share as a couple. We both are logged in via our cell phones and can get updates/emails. Some examples:
-
Streaming platforms
-
Car/Home Insurance
-
Online purchasing accounts
-
Joint Bank Account
-
Family Email Lists
3) PRO TIP 1: Sign up for a Google Voice # connected to your joint Gmail.
Use this phone # on ALL your joint logins. That way if someone gets locked out or you need to do verifications via text, the text gets sent via email to your joint email so that both of you can access it! Gone are the days of texting “did you get that code I sent?”
4) PRO TIP 2: Create a Google Calendar connected to your joint Gmail and use this for tracking family schedules like dog walking, doctor appointments, family parties, or other weddings.
These small tricks can help you stay organized as a couple!
